We are excited about our chicken fundraiser this year! Where else can you get a 10 lb box of breaded chicken for $25? If a student sells 7 boxes, they get a pizza delivered to them AT school along with a few other prizes! You can turn in orders and money at any time, and we will begin distributing prizes.

A lot of learning happened at GHMS this week!
Mrs McSpadden’s Robotics team met this week. They are working hard to be ready for their first competition on Nov 2nd!
8th Grade students participated in density labs (measuring liquids and irregular sized objects) during Mrs. McSpadden's science classes. They also learned about physical and chemical properties of matter.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays all of our students participate in math and reading enrichment small groups. Mrs. McSpadden's math enrichment group learned about inequalities, area, and measurement by building a tower to hold the most washers with measurement constraint for base, height, and shelf
Mrs. Swann's math class spent some time graphing linear equations on graphing mats. They also learned how slope intercepts apply to real life situations.
It is hard to believe that our first nine weeks is coming to an end! Make sure to check your child's grades on Powerschool. If you see a score of a 1, that is a placeholder grade letting you know that there is still time to make up that assignment.
We started our chicken fundraiser on Friday. We are selling 10 lb. boxes of chicken for $25. Your child should have brought home the order form he or she was given on Friday.
Enjoy fall break! We can't wait to see everyone again on Wednesday!

Happy Fall Break! See you Wednesday!

Good Evening!
- Our first 9 weeks will end next Friday, October 11. Please check your child's grades on Powerschool. If you see an assignment with a score of a 1, that means your child can still turn it in and get a grade!
- Fall break will be this coming Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8.
- Our chicken fundraiser began today! Your child received an order form today with more information.
Have a great weekend and enjoy Fall Break!

Today is National School Custodian Appreciation Day, and ours is certainly worth celebrating! Mrs. Lacie makes our school sparkle- not just by cleaning! She greets every student with a smile and makes them feel like they are the most important person in the room. Mrs. Lacie, we appreciate how you go above and beyond every day for the students and teachers at Good Hope Middle School!

If your child is interested in Space Camp, come to this informational meeting tonight!

Wow, what a week is right! We had so much fun celebrating Homecoming week! Our students were able to attend the high school pep rally on Friday. They showed so much school spirit! We loved getting to see our middle school band students, cheerleaders, and color guard in action!
We had a lot of learning going on this week, too. Enjoy these pictures from Mrs. Hyatt's aviation project. Her students learned about the evolution of aviation. They built a 3D model of the Wright Brothers' Plane! They even got to "test fly" their airplanes!
We ended the week with our volleyball team being named County Champions! Way to go, girls!
What a great week!

We had great week at GHMS!
- Check out these pictures showing our 7th grade integer product champions.
- The last 2 weeks in our Career Prep class students have researched inventors and innovators of the past. Then the students created talking avatars to present the research to class. Finally, they made a human timeline of inventions and innovations.. They also learned about inventions and innovations in communication and practiced encryption and decryption by sending coded messages to one another in class!
And as if that wasn't enough... they had a guest speaker, a mortgage consultant, come talk to the class about Financial Literacy.
- If you would like more information about Space Camp, mark your calendar for September 30 at 5:30!

Homecoming Week is next week (September 23-27! Here are our dress up days!

What a great week at Good Hope Middle School! If you had walked through our halls this week, you would have heard students cheering each other on as they presented their essays in 6th grade. You would have heard our 7th grade students practicing Spanish as they learn another language. You would have heard students reading out loud to each other in the hallways. It was such a great week to be a Raider! Can't wait to do it again this week!

Hat Day on Friday! See details below!

We want to kick off National Arts in Education Week by giving a huge shout out to Jessica Clayton- Wilhite and Thomas Hargrave. Mrs. Clayton-Wilhite teaches art to ALL of our students in addition to teaching 7th grade geography and civics! The students love going to her art class and exercising their creativity! Mr. Hargrave directs our GHMS band. He is passionate about helping students discover a love for music. We want to thank both of these amazing educators for cultivating a love for the arts in our students!

Look at all of the great things we have going on at Good Hope Middle School!
Mrs. McSpadden's science class had yet another week of hands-on learning! They completed a mixture lab this week!
Mrs. Spicer's 7th grade English class participated in a book club. They took advantage of the beautiful weather and did some reading outside!
Mrs. Adams, our librarian, and Mrs. Acosta paired up to work on poetry analysis in 6th grade English.
Mrs. Acosta also had her students practice presenting their narrative writing assignment.
Mrs. Hyatt's career prep students spent some time this week completing some online Brain Games with our school system career coach! These games are not only fun, they will also give students some insight on possible careers they might be interested in!
We are ready for another great week at Good Hope Middle School!

We had another fantastic week at GHMS!
- We brought out the yard games during break this week. It was so much fun to watch the students play games together!
- Speaking of games... we had volleyball and football games this week! If you have pictures from the football game, feel free to drop them in the comments!
- It's election season at GHMS! Our hallways are lined with such creative campaign posters!
- Our 6th grade students had so much fun completing an escape room challenge in Mrs. Acosta's English class this week!
- Mrs. McSpadden's 8th grade science class had a week of hands-on learning! They completed a particle motion lab. Mrs. McSpadden even made the test review fun!
- Our career prep class was all about leadership, teamwork, and trust this week. During a team building challenge, teams had to draw a word that Mrs. Hyatt had written on the board. There was a catch! They only had 1 marker for their group and 4 strings attached to the marker. They had to work together and communicate with each other to be able to draw the word that was shown on the board. The students really enjoyed doing this activity! They found that it was much more challenging than they expected!
- No school Monday! We will miss seeing everyone! Can't wait until Tuesday!

Tomorrow! Make plans to come to our blood drive! We will start at 9 a.m. Don't forget that the student of your choice will receive a free icee!

If your son played baseball last season, there will be an informational meeting on Tuesday at 6pm at the baseball field.

It was another fantastic week to be a Raider! These pictures are just a small glimpse into all of the great things we did this week.
In Mrs. Hyatt's class our 8th grade students spent the week learning about workplace safety (such as general safety guidelines and accident reporting). They got a chance to play a board game to learn and review different scenarios about workplace safety.
Mrs. McSpadden's science class spent time this week on a popsicle experiment! What a great way to learn science!
Mrs. Acosta's English class completed a creative writing assignment about nature. Mrs. Acosta decided it would be much more effective if her students could write about nature while immersed in nature!
Our seventh grade students had a wonderful time learning Spanish this week. As a class they had a Zoom call with a teacher from Colombia. She showed them various places around her country, including an active volcano! We can't wait for the next lesson!
We ended the week with some cross country victories! Our team represented us well! In the Girls 1600 Meter Sara Self placed 3rd, Maya Caudle placed 5th, and Veronica Horvath placed 6th. We are so proud of you all!
