Mrs. Tracy Smith
Tracy Smith is a graduate of West Point High School and Wallace State Community College where she obtained her Nursing degree in 1999. Tracy’s healthcare experience includes working in the emergency department, dialysis, surgical nursing in both the clinic and inpatient settings, and endoscopy. Shortly after graduating in 1995, Tracy started her career in healthcare which allowed her to work alongside other healthcare professionals that exemplified a level of dedication and commitment that was unmatched. This experience instilled in her a strong work ethic and a desire to strive for the same level of dedication while providing the best care for both her patients and their families. In 2015, Tracy was blessed with the opportunity to teach CATA students who have an interest in a career in health care. While teaching was never on her “radar” as a career change, she quickly learned that teaching and nursing are both careers in which you are serving others and helping them to achieve something greater. She is passionate about her health science students being ready for all aspects of life not just their career choice. On a personal note, Tracy and her husband (John) are blessed with two children, Camp and Audrey. As a family, they stay busy with everything their children are involved in, and in their spare time, they enjoy traveling.
Mrs. Adriann Basch
Adriann Basch is a graduate of Vinemont High School, Wallace State Community College, and Jacksonville State University, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2009. After graduating high school and to gain more insight into the healthcare field, she obtained a job as a nursing assistant. While learning valuable patient care skills and gaining hands-on experience, Adriann quickly realized she wanted to further her education and become a Registered Nurse. After reaching her career goal, she worked in multiple nursing areas including, medical-surgical, urgent care, surgery, endoscopy, and nursing education. In 2015, Adriann was asked to join Tracy Smith and the CATA Health Science Program. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with high school students with the ultimate goal of preparing them for a future healthcare career. Through the program’s core disciplines such as having a positive attitude, commitment, and accountability, Adriann carefully guides her students as they choose their career path before they graduate high school. Unlike Adriann, these special students have the rare opportunity to obtain experience in the healthcare field before enrolling in college. Adriann wants to empower, encourage, and provide health science students with skillful knowledge and experience they can carry with them into any future career and life. Adriann has been married to Nathan since 2007 and she has two wonderful children, Preslie and Ezra. She enjoys watching movies, playing outside, and being actively engaged with her family.
